For Beginners: What is Web hosting?
After discussing what Domain Name is all about, we are now going to talk about Web hosting and what is their purpose. I have posted some non-technical terms about web host
from the previous post so I just want to add some details about this topic. This is also important when you want to start your very first website or blog.
What is Web hosting
Web hosting is a service which allocates space for customers to showcase their websites on computer servers that are connected to the Internet 24 hours/7 days. Web host used servers with powerful computers that have very large hard drives, or a group of hard drives. If you want to have a website on the internet you have to rent a space on the web host. Each space or server on the Internet has an exclusive numerical IP (Internet Protocol) address. Servers are like apartment buildings with exclusive addresses. Every apartment unit inside the building is equivocal to space rented out for individual websites. And like real apartment buildings, each unit also has an address based on "the building" in which it is located.
When we rent a space on a server then, we're setting up house on the Internet. Surfers can find
us thru our unique address (the website address), which is based on the server's address we rented.
Types of Web hosting
Web hosts has many different types of packages. Nearly all packages come with certain capabilities for customers. Examples are scripts that allow interactive functions, forms, bulletin boards, guest books, etc. For professional purposes there are also Web hosting services that offer commercial packages that bundle business tools, like point of sales packages and credit card processing. I like the Fantastico script because it offers one-click installations that are very user-friendly and easy to understand for beginners.
Prices for Web hosting vary from free to hundreds of dollars a year, depending on your needs. Web hosting for personal websites that don't require any special tools and have low traffic (not a high number of viewings) can be found easily for free. Free Web hosting is convenient but has its drawbacks. I will prefer free web hosting for those who want to try how to create a blog or website for the first time because you don’t have to pay anything, but once you have know the principle of webhosting and you want to be serious on blogging, you have to purchase a space on a server because you are losing money if you only rely on
free host.
Usually it will be obligatory for you to allow the server to run advertisements on your free website. The advertisements are normally banner ads -- a banner at the top of the page for example – and sometimes pop-up ads as well.
Most free hosting services offer an alternative pay-plan to have the advertisements
removed. Another consideration is that free services normally allocate your website address as an extension of the server's address.
For example:www.freewebhost.com/yourwebsite. If you want an address like:www.yourwebsite.com you will have to pay to register your own
domain name.
There are other considerations when looking for a Web host aside from price. You should also look for reliable web host, meaning, you should put your trust from the powerful and tested web host from the Internet. Some hosting services have policies that confine certain content, scripting languages, tasks or uses. You should always read the privacy policy of any
hosting service that you are considering, to see how they will use the personal information you provide to them in setting up your account. Abide their terms of use or privacy policy so you can always use their services without problems, because you will just wasted your time, effort and money if your site will be banned on their server.

4 Sureways On Selecting A Domain Name
For Beginners: How To Pick And Decides What Is The Right Domain Name For Your Newly Created Website or Blog
It is 2012 and still sharing some techniques I have learned for the past two years of my career on the internet and now I am going to reach my third year career online. So it is a good start to me for sharing some different ways to explore domain names and to find brainwave for new domain names to register. The method we research domain names will be highlighted to a large coverage by the intended use for the domain name, example is it being registered for a new or existing site, for making money or extra income online use or to keep an established company brand or organization trademark.
1. Ok, if you're looking for a domain name for a new website. Always remember to put the name that are related to your site and start by noting down what your site is all about, in a
paragraph or two. Then compress this description into a minimum of two sentences. Just take down the most relevant words on those sentences and take your short description. Underline all the "key" words that describe your site best. Let's take a specific example:
"My blog/website will be the primary source of information on domain name and web hosting, providing domain name registration and reliable web hosting ideas, an introduction to online web hosting, and a guide to selecting the right domain names for your blog/website, and a site for people who want an advice about web hosting and domain naming."
Now try to come up with a domain name that either addresses the one basic concept of the site, or that marries two or more key ideas in a single name.
In our example:
- domainnameregistration.com,
- domainnamesandwebhostings.com,
- domainnamepatterns.com,
- domainnamingworld.com,
- webhostingworld.com, etc.
Once you've drawn up a short-list of domain names to "test" for availability, it's time to look up our domain name search program. If you're having difficulty coming up with useful domain name combinations from your keywords, try a single keyword and add prefixes or suffixes. Not all prefixes and suffixes are appropriate in all situations - use your judgment when deciding which to add.
Common Prefixes and Common Suffixes
e, e-, my, i, i-, the, online, net, web, internet, hot, cool, our, your world, links, site, web, net, resource, business, company, corp, inc, shop, store, mall, search, directory, guide.
Naming a new website or blog are crucial, because if you have the most fit name on your site,
it is not just only gain a good ranking on search engines, it will also help you to get the most visitor coming to your site.
2. Note as many keywords and key phrases on your notepad (you can use the Free Google Keyword Tools for this matter). These are what searcher will use to find your blog or website. Keyword phrases are usually better, much better than single word alone. Right now, you can register domain names up to 67 characters that are loaded with rich keywords and radically raise your ranking on search engines.
Search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing care for domain names that illustrate well the site and are full with keywords and high quality content.
For example,
1234-domain-name-reviews.com. You can use the "1234-" part to get better placement by those search engines who sort alphabetically. Also notice that the words "domain name", and
"reviews" are keywords that have been established and proven to be the most widely used in our business.
3. How about if you are looking for a domain name for an existing website. In the case that you're looking to buy a domain name for a website that is already up and running, your options will be more limited than if you're starting from scratch.
First, have you already been operating the site under a clearly-recognizable "name" or "title"? Even if your site is hosted on inexpensive space at an ISP, or on a free host (not recommended), you may have given it a short title in huge letters (or in a logo). This is the obvious place to start when looking for a domain name. If your site's name (as given in its title) is very common, you may well come across one (or many) other sites previously were using it -and the corresponding domain name (s) long since gone. In that case, you have to decide
whether you will make a bid to buy the domain name you want, but for my opinion, you should look for an alternative extension (such as .org or .net) or use the brainstorming ideas mentioned earlier.
4. The new policy for 67 character domain names. This could present a great opportunity in
more ways than one. Because the rules have changed, you can register names up to 67 characters long. This is including the .com or .net or .org. The old rule limited you to 23 characters only.
What does this mean to us bloggers and webmasters?
For bloggers and webmasters this is a big break to make some big money in a very short period of time with a little investment.
Why? Because you can register names today in hopes of selling them for big earnings tomorrow. You have probably heard of this before, well now it's happening again. For example, business.com has been sold for 7.5 million dollars! Do some brainstorming and register these names while you still can.
Here are some of the reasons:
You can register domain names that abound with your keywords and really improve ranking on the search engines. Search engines just love names that describe the web site and have lots of keywords.
Not very many surfers know this but the search engines actually prefer names with hyphens.
Most people prefer names without hyphens but nowadays everyone just searches and clicks, you don't generally have to type in the name.
Conclusion:
If you want your site to be more crawled by the search engines make sure you use hyphens and
if you want to appeal to the average person surfing the World Wide Web do not use hyphens. But do you know what the easiest way to assure success is? Register both! There is no better way to ensure that you are getting as many visitors more possible than by registering the URL with hyphens and the same URL without. You can register a name that is better than what you have now. Maybe your present domain name ends with a .net or .org. You can get a .com name which will be better for your blog or website business. If achievable, by all means
register first the .com name, follow by .net and/or .org. If you now have a .net or .org, you are losing visitors and losing business.
Almost everybody remembers .com before .net or .org and that's a fact. Even most browsers will default to .com if the extension is not entered. A good .com name will always prevail and pay for itself time and time again. Even if you ask any of the webmaster and blogger experts on domain name and webhosting.

What Is The First Thing You Should Know Before Blogging?
When I am starting to blog, all I just want to do is to have fun and make some decent income online. So my mindset is to have a free blog to start with. So I tried some Free We bhosting and created an account there and to make the story short I have build a site that has already thousand of visits daily. I have built that site for almost a year and put my time and efforts there to get that kind of achievements. I work day and night when I have a vacant time forlink building, social bookmaking’s and do some Search Engine Optimization
(SEO) on that site, until that unforgettable moment come. . .
I receive a notice from that free-host that my account have been disabled due to the amount of traffic my site received and they cannot hold the bandwidth anymore so they flagged my site and I cannot take the ownership anymore.
Well, that is very sad to say but it was a big lesson for me and an experience I always have to remember. All the efforts I've done are wasted and the time I spend to that site came to nothing, but I can't do anything about it, because, that is life, you have to gain
failure in order to gain success.
That is why I am sharing this short experience on my blogging career that you have to invest some money to gain better results, don't always think of freebies about webhosting and domain naming because they are limited and you are risking your valuable time and efforts. It is important also to listen from experienced blogger or webmaster before implementing project about web hosting and domain name owning.
What is a Domain Names?
(Well, right now I am not going to discuss here the technical definitions about domain names and web hosting, but I want to explain on a very simple way so that beginners can relate on this topic.)
A domain name is like an address of your house. It addresses where your home are
located. We can compare our home from hosting or the one who makes our site live 24 hours a day on the World Wide Web. The host do all the maintenance of our site while
and keep up our site alive on web, like videos, pictures, texts and all other programs. The Host are what we called the Server or the Body of our site, while domain names serves as the address on how visitors will find our home.
Importance of Domain Names and Web host
Imagine, if you have a house but you don't know the address of it, how can you promote it to other so that they can visit your home? And what about, you know the address of the house but when you visit there you can't find anything on that lot or on that site?Just like also on Web hosting and Domain Names, it is important that you have both of this two.
Important Reason Why You Should Have a Good Domain Names and a Reliable Webhost
The advantage of having a good domain names on the web is the fact that they search most by searchers on the internet. A popular name can be easily find by people when using the search engine, and resulted on more visitors daily.
For example, a name "Britney" are more popular than "Brittney", although they look the same but they are totally different.
Another example of a good name is "dog" because most dog lovers will search first for the word dog on search engine than the word German Sheppard, k9 or puppy, although these terms have fewer searches they are extremely targeted names for people who want to have info about the dog or customers who want to buy.
What if my domain names are not a popular name or familiar word, how people will find my site?
The answer is thru link building or promoting your link to other webmasters and bloggers, but this is another discussion so we will talk about it later.
What about Reliable Webhost?
It is important that you run your site on a very strong server. Imagine that you have a house that has plenty of people visiting and the structures of your site are poor and insufficient on spaces, can you imagine what will happen? Your site will always break down because of low quality structure and it will be unavailable to other who wants to visit your site, or in other words, you arejust wasting your money.
So the main purpose of this post was to inform the reader who want to blog for the first time that if you want to gain profits from your site and don't want to risk your efforts and time on blogging, you should invest some money.
Remember this famous quote about life,
Plant something and you will harvest something,
Put nothing and you will get nothing.
My next post will be on what is domain name on technical side and how to pick-up the
right name for your website or blog.
